Escaleras Roads Committee

The Escaleras Roads committee was created in May 2022. It is an effort to work together to maintain the public roads of Escaleras. The maintenance coverage at this time includes: Escaleras Jolly Roger road, Escaleras Pozo Azul road, San Martin Sur, and the cross-over road between the four-way corner and the concrete road and the first 400m at the top of Pacific Edge road.

The road maintenance responsibilities are divided into 5 sections. The volunteers on each section of the road listed below work with the board to plan, schedule and oversee the work of contractors. These individuals live here and use these roads daily.

A - Escaleras south from Las Terrazas to bottom and concrete road up to Tower road - Leif Bernhardt

B - Escaleras top - from Las Terrazas to 4 corners and Pacific Edge top - Paul Weigandt

C - San Martin From Toucan Alley down to bottom - Jon Strelec

D - San Martin top from Toucan alley up to 4 corners and Escaleras Pozo Azul from 4 corners to lower stream - Blake Massa

E - Escaleras Pozo Azul from Dominicalito up through lower stream - Mike Cammisa

Commitments:

The formal association allows for a bank account and the ability to legally collect funds for these purposes.
The municipality requires an association to work with us.
An independent accountant reviews the books and submits all the required accounting reports to the government.
Transparency and communication about payments and costs.
100% of the funds are used for the maintenance and emergency repair of the roads and/or the banking and accounting fees. No committee remembers receive any compensation or payment.
Maintain all the roads in good working order to have alternate routes for emergencies and also for convenience of all residents.
Assess the expenses and contributions at the end of every year to make adjustments.
Use collective efforts to gain better pricing from contractors wherever possible.
Use the collective efforts to influence the municipality to assist.

Only the primary public roads listed are included in the maintenance. Sub-roads are handled by the individual communities. (Marina Vista 1, Marina Vista 2, Las Perlas, Las Terrazas, Concrete Road, Costa Verde Estates, etc)
Pacific Edge road, the Concrete Road and the Tower road are not included in the maintenance provided by this team at this time.
